NAME: Cicero Cook POSITION: Debate Club President WHY THIS SPOT?: I sure hope the upperclassmen enjoy being bossed around by a tiny sophomore, because Cicero sure loves doing it. Cicero is bold, opinionated, organized and exacting, which are good traits for running a club like debate. He takes his role very seriously, although not so seriously that he won't let a little silliness sneak in from time to time. If someone wants to bring a ridiculous argument to the table, Cicero will insist that their opponent engage with it. He has a slight sophomore bias. Just a little one.
Cicero is determined to take home Nationals and prove his worth to everyone. He's absolutely a try-hard who believes his club is much more important than sports, and laments the lack of attention the debate team receives. Broomsports aren't getting Peckenpaugh to Nationals!!! He brings up Nationals a lot, sometimes to the point where it stops sounding like a real word. IDEAS?:
This is his first year serving as president, and he's disappointed in the relatively low headcount of his club. His first mission will be to start aggressively recruiting! He'd really like more sophomores in the club. Safety in numbers.
Debate stats! Everyone in debate can fill out little stats cards based on charisma, research, aggression, etc., and maybe get a chance to level up those stats in silly ways. For instance, doing any public speaking that month, or getting into a debate/argument, etc.
Debate IC/OOCs! Ages ago at Gooseberry we had a concept for RNG stat-based debate duels that I'd love to implement.
Cicero's really going to push the idea of taking NATIONALS as a goal. He WILL get Ms. Altizer to dab, and has passionately promised her this on several occasions.
IC/OOCs for regionals, nationals, etc., pulling from the list of other schools they can go up against. Lots of trying to get people as excited for Debate as they are for broomsports.
